Friday we put in a bid on a house.
We bid a few thousand over the asking price. We had a notion that someone else might come in (actually we heard a rumor) at the asking price, so we sweetened the bid a little.
No word yesterday or today. Silence from all the realtors. I was sure we were out of the running. Then word came that the primary bidder, whose bid was the asking price, had given a check for the earnest money, and it bounced.
Ouch for them.
That puts us right in the front of the bidding. That does not mean we will get the house, but it means we did not lose the house today.
The house in question is in an older area (older meaning 70’s to current) with all sorts of real nice homes around. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths on one level (very important). Then there is a mother in law unit that has been added. That one has another bedroom, a bath and a living area, along with space for a small kitchen.
There is no shop or garage, but I could work around that one.
The lot is close to half acre and is totally fenced.
It would be a good house for us.
But as I tell Shar: “Don’t arrange the furniture yet!”
