I did not know that a manufactured house (one built inside in a factory and then moved to a foundation) could only be moved once.
That is it can be moved from the factory to the foundation, but not off the foundation to anywhere else! If it happens the whole thing is not eligible for financing, apparently from any source.
Wow.
We found a real nice place. The land was the right size, it had a double car garage with an apartment above (!). It had enough room and was in good shape. The owner was asking a hundred grand and it had to be all cash.
That explained why a nice place like that was on the market for so long.
We could come close to raising that much cash, but it would leave us pretty pasted financially. So we made a lame offer. There was a full priced offer so ours was moot.
Earlier we visited an historic house. Old brick, in the historical district of my town. We walked in the front door and I was ready to get out my checkbook. It was wonderfully put together. It had all of everything we might want. Well, pretty close to everything. It turned out that all three of the bedrooms were in the basement. The required windows (large enough you could exit in case of a fire) were not present and at our age, going up and down that many steps that many times a day did not make us happy.
It was a beautiful house otherwise.
The things you learn.
