Savannah

Last weekend I attended a great grandson’s baptism.

While waiting for the end of the service I looked down the pew and saw Savannah. She is about 5 maybe, one of my new great grand daughters.

She looked at me and I signaled for her to come closer. She did an we had a conversation about not much. Then I asked her if I could hug her. She nodded her head. So I gave her a gentle grandpa hug. She was happy.

Shar has over 45 great grand kids (I have none), but now I am their step grandfather and I see them with now and then. There are two other cousins, Brooklyn and Hailey who call me grandpa  and come running for a hug.

All of this reminds me of the time my little girls were that size and of all the times I hugged them. Later it was granddaughters. Emily practically grew up in my house. I have hugged her thousands of times.

But my little granddaughters are not even teens any more. OK, the youngest is 17 and on a fast track to adulthood.

I miss all of those little ladies. I really do.
